>Fuck! In a couple of years it'll be: "Ship Of Fools" A Furthur seniors only Caribbean Cruise.

Ha!

I tell ya, it is just a matter of time till someone finds a niche market in nursing homes with our crowd.

Oh my! That's a pretty freaking great idea. A nursing home with a first class showroom and all the dinosaur acts coming through. You get room, board, companionship and entertainment top-flight(as far as you can remember)acts on a regular(he-he) basis.

I'm just young enough to cater to the folks who would pay to die that way. Yipee!

"Wheel me in sonny, it's BOC and Bad Company tonight!"

The bands of course will be in transition, as the members inevitably change- but the music will remain (somewhat) the same. "BOC 3 and Bad Company IV tonight!"

>That's a pretty freaking great idea.

Just write me up hf. 'Aint got a dime (or at least real money), but I do have the time for good ideas.

Second.

How about a little space for a music room for small shows, speakers, ect.. Each 'home' can have their own vault.

Notes: @ 8:35 in the 1st set you can clearly hear Edna's hip shatter when she fell attempting the ever-perilous standing ovation.

"one finds a niche market in nursing homes with our crowd"

ABSOLUTELY!!! I've been saying this for ages. I will not go to the nursing home unless they have got this worked out for me properly.

(And once they *have* got it worked out, I'm pretty much ready to go any time.)

(Hi, long time no see)

Right back at ya kiddo. I was thinking about you the other day. I hope everything is peachy in Palookaville.

as long as the right meds are employed...

Furthur most certainly sounds like sr. citizen jam music these days. Very tame and well manicured, that is what practice and clean living will do for you - make you boring.

I long for the unpredictable fiascos that a real Dead show had the ever present possibility of being...as its stereo isomer was a transcendent musical miracle, both are now eliminated in the quest for normal, average, regular musical quality. zzzzzzzz

Well said. Reminds me of an old Neil Young quote: "Long flat expanses of professionalism bother me."

They've been a collective lounge act for years. Nothing really new about this Mexican gig, except maybe the gorgeous ocean backdrop.

Nerf ball. Though it's sometimes fun to fool around with, they don't use it to play in a game- even Pee Wee.

I think that uses up my annual allowance of sporting analogies.

I do wish I could give myself in to it, if only for the nostalgia rush, but I can't. Some individual songs I've heard are neat, but I did walk out of MSG in '10 (after having seen them 5 ish times) and haven't seen them live since.

Yeah, I'm probably done with Furthur myself after about five shows(last year at the Wang Center in Boston being the last). I was just turned on to the Phil and Friends shows from April '99 at the Warfield in San Francisco with Kimock and a couple of Phish guys. These shows were so much more interesting than Furthur. Too bad Kimock and Lesh can't get along...

I didn't know there was any friction between them. Anecdotal or do you have a link(s)?

btw- I've 'heard' the same about about Messrs. Lesh and Larry Campbell.

Old story, but seems like it could be an issue still...
